Jackie Lane for 18th LD State Committeewoman 2019-2020

Hello fellow 18th LD PCOs.  My name is Jackie Lane, I am the PCO for precinct 545, and I am running for State Committee-woman for the 18th Legislative District.

I have been a PCO since 2008, when I was recruited to help with the caucus, and first elected PCO in 2010.  I have been involved in the local and state parties, working on the dinner committee for the last 2 years, chair of the county Candidate Development committee, holding fundraisers for candidates, helping with the caucuses.  I have served on the State Platform Committee for several cycles, and attended the State Conventions in support of that function, and also as a delegate when I could.  The work on the state Platform Committee requires 4 trips each biennium, typically to Seattle and Wenatchee, for full day meetings, including the State Convention weekend, along with a considerable amount of work outside of the meetings. As this involves reviewing, tweaking and decisioning resolutions submitted for the Convention, I am able to help with writing clear resolutions.

I worked hard to get the County Charter passed, including attending freeholder meetings, reading all the materials while it was being developed, and contributing time and money to get it passed. I intend to be involved in that work again when it comes up for review in 2020.

I have been an active election observer for years, and use that experience to talk to voters about our election systems and processes.  I provide voter registration forms, with cover letters, to Share Vancouver and to Habitat for Humanity, for people in shelters and those being newly housed.  My passion for voting engagement and voting rights is evident in the public service website I maintain to help voters in Clark County get information about registration, about candidates and issues, and about their ballot.  It is non-partisan, which I believe is important to reach independent voters and to maintain credibility.  You can check it out here: www.votingisez.com  I am planning a bit of a re-vamp before the next election cycle.

My other community engagement includes (but is not limited to):

  • League of Women voters
    • Voter registration and education
    • LWV State Lobby day
    • Helping with Forums and other events.
  • Share Vancouver
    • Share ambassador (tabling at stores and events to solicit donations and volunteers)
    • Cooking at a Share family shelter
    • Working in the warehouse
    • Delivering food for the summer lunch program
    • Get donation barrels out and filled and collected for every 28 days and other Share donation drives (at County Dems and my former employer)
  • Leadership Clark County
    • Developing our next generation of leaders through leadership education (class of 2017)
  • Vice President of the Battle Ground Education Foundation, which supports the students, teachers and staff of the Battle Ground School district (bgef.org).

I commit to full participation on the State Committee including soliciting input from the 18th LD democrats and reporting back; and to working hard to continue strengthening the Washington State Democratic Party.  I am willing and able to attend all meetings, understanding the financial and time commitments.
