Precincts and Precinct Committee Officers (PCOs)
A precinct is the smallest geographic unit used to organize elections. In Washington State, precincts group nearby voters to ensure accurate ballots, efficient elections, and local representation.
Each precinct may have a Precinct Committee Officer (PCO). A PCO is a local party representative who serves that specific precinct, helping connect neighbors with their political party, share election information, and represent the precinct’s voice in party decisions. PCOs strengthen grassroots participation by organizing at the neighborhood level and encouraging civic engagement.
Not every precinct has a PCO, but when they do, PCOs help ensure the community’s interests are heard and supported within the broader legislative district.
